Product Research
The singer overlock machine comes with a complete accessory kit to include Allen wrenches and large screwdrivers. The seamstress is able to adjust the length and width of the stitching and the automatic threading feature makes sewing a dream and a far cry from the machines from the 1800's. Depending on the particular model, some come with digital panels which display stitching information. The panels outline all of the required stitch settings of a particular garment so as to ensure a quality product in the end. With the built in flip needle system, looper levers and color coded thread guides this process with go much more smoothly.
Most models of the singer overlock machine have presser foot fabric adjusters which are great for the thicker fabrics such as wool and differential feeds with slide lever adjusting to make sewing the lighter fabrics much easier because they prevent puckering. All of the machines come with mechanical, electrical and adjustment warranties that vary in times in which they are valid. Though, each machine will specifically list the time frame for each warranty and additional coverage warranties are available.

I purchased this serger from Walmart about a week ago. The low price is what lured me in, and I have not been terribly disappointed yet, considering what I paid for it. Sergers are fairly complex and take a lot more patience to operate than sewing machines. You can expect to put at least an hour or two into setting this machine up, and should plan on running a few scraps of fabric through it initially to adjust the tension dials, which can be a bit finicky and over-sensitive. The machine comes with a DVD that is INFINITELY more helpful than the manual, and with a lot of patience and several failed attempts, I was able to thread it correctly and produce a stitch. My only complaint is that the stitching can be inconsistent at times, no matter how much I fiddle with the tension dials, but I cannot say I expected a flawless machine at such a low price. This is a nice machine for those on a budget or who use their sergers lightly. I only use mine for finishing the edges of light-weight fabrics, and it suits my purposes quite well. A more expensive machine would probably function more consistently, true, but I'm thankful there's a serger out there that meets my more stringent budget!

Overall this is a great product from singer and it was delivered in a timely manner, but there are no supplies that usually come this kind of purchase. There is no tools to use for its maintanance and no spare anything at all. Where with the other purchase of the same product I recd some spare stuff for it.

I just bought this - not from amazon but from Walmart. I have never used a serger, but I figured with a little bit of playing around I would get the hang of it. I have been sewing for years. Just trying to thread the thing is almost impossible! Then, every time I go to start sewing it jams and breaks the threads! I realize the tension is probably off, but after 20 minutes of trying to thread the thing, for only 5 seconds of sewing, I just can't do it again! I am returning this monster and I think I will try the Brother 1034D. Sounds much simpler and most everyone is happy with it!
